Hamilton Mausoleum

Reverberation time - 14.5 seconds

The largest private mausoleum in Britain, Hamilton Mausoleum is a chapel and crypt which was built for the 10th Duke of Hamilton in the mid-19th Century.

Designed by the famous Edinburgh architect David Bryce with it’s remarkable roman dome structure that goes toward creating a wonderful 14.5 second reverberation.

The acoustic properties of the space are very bright and open in the high frequency and has a similarly long sustain as produced in spaces such as Cupar Silo or Wormit Reservoir along with the musical vibrancy of St Mary’s Cathedral.
